Washington, DC (Sputnik) – The Trump administration is planning to impose new sanctions against Iran over Tehran’s ballistic missile program and alleged support for terrorism, US media reported on Monday.
The new sanctions are not nuclear-related and do not violate the nuclear agreement with Iran, Free Beacon reported citing a US official.
The official added that the United States is looking into new military- and policy-oriented efforts against Iran’s alleged illicit activities.
On June 15, the US Senate passed a bill targeting Russia and Iran with new sanctions. The legislation still awaits a vote at the US House of Representatives.
